Having recently seen this film, I'd like to comment that it is better than the first, but far from a classic. The production values are much higher and the story is better developed, but the actions of some of the protagonists (especially the two youngsters) are questionable and therefore it is hard to root for their survival.
Robert Carlyle, who usually delivers a solid performance in anything he's in, does just that in the first half of this film, but then he is ill-used in the latter half.
The character I was most wanting to see triumph, is cruelly denied that, and so cannot be part of any further sequels (28 Months Later??). So, I can't say I'm truly happy with this franchise's development, but have to admit this entry in the series was a worthwhile investment.
Keep up the good work, Cinematronics guy. Your blog is very entertaining.
